A backup generator has been installed at The Lighthouse Community Centre in Qualicum Bay giving the facility the designation of an emergency reception centre.

“This is a crucial piece of equipment for our community,” said Area H Director Dave Bartram in a news release. “Evacuees will be directed to the Lighthouse Community Centre if they have to leave their homes due to an emergency or disaster.”

The generator was partially funded by a $10,000 grant from the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program. Visit www.rdn.bc.ca for more information.
