Harris Oceanside GM wins Automotive Business of the Year award on Vancouver Island

Harris Oceanside Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd. was voted Automotive Business of the Year at the 21st annual Grant Thornton LLP Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards, held at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria on March 17.

The Parksville dealership was one of the 72 finalists from all over Vacouver Island.

Another award-winner from Parksville was Osprey Electric Ltd., which won the Trade Business of the Year category. They were established in 2012 and has been providing electrical contracting for Western BC and Vancouver Island.

Other winners included San Group of Port Alberni, which won was Business of the Year, and Ignition Motorsports of Duncan, named Small Business of the Year.

Because there was no BE Awards event last year nominations covered the last two years – 2020 and 2021. Nominations were, as usual, evenly split between companies north of the Malahat and south of the Malahat.

“This was a great celebration about the best of the best in Vancouver Island like never before,” says Mark MacDonald of Business Examiner, which co-ordinates the event. “It’s been a very long two years since we’ve been able to gather at events like this, and we’re grateful that so many wonderful businesses have been able to make it through such difficult, unprecedented times and have success stories to share and we could celebrate with them.”

Other PQB-area businesses named as finalists in their respective categories include: Eat Fresh Urban Market of Parksville for Entrepreneur of the Year; Current Millwork of Parksville for Manufactured Wood Products Business of the Year; M & N Matress of Parksville for Retail Business of the Year; and Bravenet Marketing of Parksville for Technology Business of the year.
