Little Qualicum Cheeseworks was tops among 51 finalists in the 2011 Canadian Cheese Grand Prix, sponsored by the Dairy Farmers of Canada.
LQC’s Island Bries won top spot in the soft cheese with bloomy rind category — facing two cheeses from Natural Pastures of Courtenay.
Judging of the entries took place on February 19 and 20 at the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) in Montreal. The winners were announced April 20.
The first opportunity for the public to taste all winners in one place will be at The Great Canadian Cheese Festival on June 4-5 in Picton, Ontario. — News Staff/LQC
