Parksville council has voted to provide public notice of its intention to support an application to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch by Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company that will make its temporary patio permanent.
The brewing company also is looking to construct a new 80-square-metre addition to the 87-square-metre patio that was permitted under provincial temporary authorization during the pandemic. The combined patio seating area will have room for 62 patrons, according to a report to council by Blaine Russell, director of community planning and building.
During its May 2 regular meeting, council voted to have staff advertise an opportunity for public input in writing from residents in the area. The applicant will also place signs on the property to advertise the chance for input.

Council will consider any gathered public comments, as well as the potential impact of noise on nearby residents, before making a final decision about the application.
The provincial government extended the temporary expanded service area (TESA) policy until March 31, 2023.
