A Qualicum Beach restaurant recently closed its doors for good.

The Lefty’s Fresh Food location at 710 Memorial Ave. served its last customers on June 20.

The decision was made to allow management and staff to focus attention and resources on the Parksville location at 101-280 Island Highway East (next door to Thrifty Foods in the Cornfield Street Plaza), according to a news release by Anthony Veselisin, general manager.

“Our values are based on family,” read the release. “And there is no shortage of demand for what we have delivered these past 25 years. However, the resources to deliver it at the standard we expect of ourselves, and the pressure it has placed on our team members and their families, necessitates a change.”

The release added management believes the consolidation will keep the remaining location sustainable.

“Although we expect some disappointment, we hope for the community’s understanding and continued support.”
