The Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) will hold its 15th Annual Commercial Building Awards on Thursday, April 28, in Parksville.
To be held at the Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort, the event has 35 buildings vying for top honours. This year’s awards gala will be live and in-person after two years of virtual events resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s going to be great to get together and celebrate the great buildings completed in 2021,” said event co-ordinator Mark MacDonald of the Business Examiner. “To have 35 buildings finished during such difficult times is a testament to the skills and commitment of builders and owners, for persevering as they have.”

Commercial, industrial and revenue-producing projects (including renovations) completed within the VIREB area between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2021, are up for the awards.
“Some of the buildings in this year’s competition are simply breathtaking,” said MacDonald. “We’re really looking forward to having these business leaders in the same room, celebrating their fine work.”
Four independent judges from real-estate-related companies and organizations will select the winners in approximately 11 awards categories.
There will also be a ‘Judges’ Choice Award’ for best overall entry; last year’s winner was the Village on Third project in Nanaimo.
