3 Parksville Qualicum Beach organizations receive community gaming grants

Funding helps public safety and environmental initiatives

Three Parksville Qualicum Beach organizations will receive funding from the latest Community Gaming Grants allocation for environmental and public safety initiatives.

Arrowsmith Search and Rescue, the Lighthouse Country Marine Rescue Society and Broombusters Invasive Society are among the Mid-Island community organizations receiving grants for public safety work and for environmental initiatives. The ASAR will receive $79,850, the LCMRS $37,725 and the Broombusters group $21,000.

Parksville Qualicum Beach MLA Adam Walker says local organizations will be able to restore local ecosystems and keep people safe.

“Exploring the natural beauty of the Island can be breathtaking, but in the event of the unexpected I am grateful for the search and rescue teams who go to incredible efforts when someone is in danger,” said Walker. “Supporting their work goes hand-in-hand with our efforts to promote safety education and conserve and protect the environment.”
