When a Parksville Qualicum Beach resident living with dementia requires full-time support due to complex needs, moving to a longterm care home may be the next step for caregivers or family.
Since researching longterm care can be an overwhelming process for some, the Alzheimer Society of B.C. will be providing support for area residents by means of free weekly webinars.
‘Planning for health-care, legal and financial decisions’ will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m., and aims to help with legal, health-care and financial planning before dementia affects the ability to communicate.

A follow-up webinar, ‘Adjusting to long-term care,’ will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m., and continues with the experience of transitioning into long-term care and explores different ways to ease the transition.
