The Little Qualicum Cheeseworks ‘Christmas on the Farm’ event returns for the holiday season this year.
On Saturday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m until 3 p.m., friends and families are invited to spend the day at 403 Lowry’s Rd. in Parksville.
Those who attend can expect free hot chocolate and popcorn, wagon rides, live music and on-site poutine truck.
Event organizer Ray Haynes said the whole team is anxious for the tradition to continue again.
“People generally come away smiling because they do get a taste of a real farm, including the mud and the animals,” he said. “And the marshmallows roasting over the open fire. Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow.”
He said there will be ample tents and a shelter and the wagon will be protected from the elements. However, he does encourage those who attend to bring rain gear and rain boots just in case.
“We’re just looking forward to continuing the tradition and encouraging the new owners from Manitoba to do something very British Columbian and pick up the reins of the event from here on,” said Haynes.
Regular admission is $5, and children under two can enter for free. Cash is preferred for admission. Facemasks or coverings will be required on wagon rides and in all indoor spaces, including the Farmgate Store and Mooseum.
