John M. MacFarlane, the co-author of Around the World in a Dugout Canoe, will be speaking at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre on Jan. 30.
The event, a fundraiser for the Qualicum Beach Museum, will be from 2-4 p.m.
The book is about Captain John Voss, his crew members, and the true story of a sailing mission from Victoria around the world. Voss went around the world not in a sailboat, but in a Nuu-Chah-Nulth canoe.
MacFarlane, who lives in Qualicum Beach, wrote the book with Lynn J. Salmon of Courtenay. It came out in September 2019.

The by-donation talk will have a visual presentation as well.
