Browse fair trade and ethical finds at the annual World Craft Bazaar at Knox United Church Sat., Nov. 2.
The popular event has 60 enticing tables that support fair trade and other ethical endeavours to improve the lives of people in nations around the world. Participants from around Vancouver Island, and further afield, display and sell their exotic arts, crafts, clothing, jewelry, coffees, teas, chocolate and much more. Their products make unique choices for gifts or for personal use. For the person who has everything, living gifts such as goats, chickens and pigs can be purchased on their behalf for a poor family in Uganda or Guatemala.
Some of the local vendors include African AIDS Angels, Aldea Maya, Tabitha Cambodia Foundation, Mystic Lotus, Camp Uganda, Kenya Education Endowment Foundation and Mayan Families.
New vendors this year are Unique Batik, One Leaf Creations, TeacHaiti and Seva.
Other favourites are Ten Thousand Villages, Comercio Justo Imports, Global Village Nanaimo, African Community Technical Services, Gold Coast Treasures, Floating Stone Silks, Pueblo Partisans and more.
Lunch, prepared by the Qualicum First Nation Caterers, is available in the lounge where you can relax and ponder your next purchase in support of so many worthwhile causes.
The event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 2. There is no fee for entry to the event which is organized by Parksville/Qualicum KAIROS and co-sponsored by Knox United Church.
