Students and staff at KSS are taking up the challenge to create 1,000 paper cranes.
Cranes are a symbol of hope in Japanese culture. In Japan this is called Senbatsuru.
People make Senbatsuru as encouragement for a friend or loved one who is facing devastation. KSS is selling the origami parchment for 50 cents with the goal of making $500.
Once KSS reaches a goal of 1,000 cranes, the money will be donated to the Red Cross Foundation.
