The third annual Classic Car Event will be held July 3 at the Arbutus Meadows Equestrian Centre in Nanoose Bay.
“We have another really good show planned this year with 250 classic vehicles expected,” said Bill Lineham, chair of the organizing Mid- Island Hot Rod Association (MIHRA).
“We’ve lined up plenty of food vendor trucks to provide a variety of options for breakfast, lunch or a nice cool beverage or treat,” he said of the day they intend as a fun time for the whole family.
“Inside our 60,000 square foot building will be vendors looking to answer your ‘rolling stock’ questions and help you keep that special ride in top condition.”
He said they are mostly sticking with their successful formula, “but this year we’re putting more focus on creating the premier auto trade show on Vancouver Island.”
He said this will be a great place for car enthusiasts to network and find rare auto-related parts and services.
Last year’s successful Car Corral will be back, giving participants a chance to sell vehicles. He said their efforts were hampered last year by many people not registering online, which meant they weren’t able to provide contact information for sellers, which likely hurt sales.
“Help us to help you and register online so we can contact you after the show with prospective buyers,” Lineham said on their website.
This year they are posting registered corral vehicles on their website in advance of the event. Send your details to firstname.lastname@example.org and keep them updated if things change.
There will be plenty of food vendors and car fun of all sorts for enthusiasts and casual spectators, including face painting and balloons for the kids, with “trophies galore” and great prizes for spectators.
Since there will not be on-site registrations on show day, people should register their 1991 or older classic vehicle now at http://mihra.ca/ Register before June 12 to save save $10 dollars off the normal registration fee of $25. Spectator entry is by cash donation with net proceeds going to local charities.
