Fairwinds and Nanoose Bay are gearing up to host this summer’s Caring & Sharing Community Garage Sale June 25-26.
Hoping for the biggest community garage sale on Vancouver Island, with all proceeds going to Nanoose Community Services, they are now collecting donations and sale items.
The donated items will help support the community and create the unique garage sale. People can drop off gently-used items that may be attractive to garage sale shoppers at Schooner Cove Marina on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nanoose Community Services supports low-income residents in Nanoose Bay. Most clients are single parents — several have special needs children. They work with seniors, individuals with disabilities and people facing unexpected unemployment or emergencies. They also run the Nanoose Bay Community Cupboard food bank that provides food to over 95 local residents.
Fairwinds hopes to raise $5,000 for families in need. The garage sale will take place at the marina (3521 Dolphin Drive) and they ask for the donation of a non-perishable food item for admission.
