Nanoose Bay Elementary students mark Orange Shirt Day

Students learned about residential school experience

Students at Nanoose Bay Elementary School joined others across School District 69 to observe Orange Shirt Day on Sept. 29.

The students met and learned about the history of the day and about residential schools.

The school’s Culture Club performed a song.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is Sept. 30, but since schools are closed that day, Orange Shirt Day was marked on the 29th.
