The Parksville Community Centre Society held a spaghetti dinner to help raise funds for the Arrowsmith Search and Rescue.

The event was able to raise $2,000 and that was matched by an anonymous donor.

The fundraiser was organized by one of the society’s longtime directors, Sue Hodges, who got the event going after she heard the ASAR is seeking assistance. The society was aided by the Parksville Arrowsmith Royal Canadian Legion, where the event was held.

Hodges holds the ASAR dear to her heart because when she was a young lady, she got into an accident on the Lower Mainland and was assisted by that area’s search and rescue.

The ASAR has been raising funds to pay for its new operations centre in Qualicum Beach.

Anyone interested in helping the ASAR can go and make a donation at www.arrowsmithsar.ca/donate
