There were plenty of celebrations at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 49 in Parksville on July 13.

Longtime Legion member and ‘volunteer extraordinaire’ Paul Rozek celebrated his 95th birthday, surrounded by friends on Tuesday morning.

The celebration included honouring his achievements and passing around the traditional birthday cake.

Rozek moved to Parksville from Manitoba more than three decades ago and has been with Branch 49 ever since.

He said his birthday bash was “a really good time,” and that the effort that went into it was greatly appreciated.

Rozek is the creator of the seven historic models of the Parksville Qualicum Beach area that were on display at the Parksville Museum in early 2020.
