The Parksville Museum is gearing up to start a project that will commemorate Parksville’s 75th birthday – and is asking for community support to get it done.
They plan to install a digital carillon in the steeple of the Knox Heritage Church on their grounds with the aim to have it finished by June 21, 2021 for Parksville’s next birthday.
Their goal is to raise $15,000 – they’ve already gotten to 25 per cent of their goal.
“The museum is a community gathering place where people come together to explore, learn, celebrate, reminisce and enjoy this unique setting in our community. The bells and chiles will regularly remind us that our past anchors our present… and creates our future,” said MaryEllen Campbell, president of the museume.
“On behalf of Parksville council, we are delighted the museum is initiating this project and encourage the financial support of the community. We are proud of our museum and the many recent positive changes. We look forward to being here next June when the bells and chimes will ring to recognize the city’s 76th birthday on June 19, 2021,” said Parksville mayor Ed Mayne in a press release.
