Two recent Parksville Qualicum Beach graduates are this year’s recipients of the Joy MacKay Memorial Scholarship, ECHO Players has announced.

Tatum Howell, a graduate of Kwalikum Secondary School, and Maximillian Hannah, a graduate of Ballenas Secondary School will each use the $1,000 scholarship to support their continuing studies in the performing arts, according to a news release.

Howell, who graduated high school a year early, is completing prerequisite courses at Vancouver Island University, with plans to attend the University of Saskatchewan next year to pursue a music degree.
