An event aiming to show Parksville Qualicum Beach residents pathways to residential treatment and addiction recovery is taking place this week.
Narcan training will also be available at the free event, open to all members of the public.
Kelly Morris, one of the organizers of the March 13 event, said although the event is about showcasing how to access treatment — it’s also a call for more in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.
“Detox only has 12 beds for the whole Island,” she said. “We need a treatment centre.”
Morris started an organization called ‘Treatment Pathways,’ which helps people suffering from addiction access treatments. Her organization provides: family support around addiction; 24-hour treatment and detox; transportation to services; aftercare support and housing and how to easily access treatment.
