PHOTOS: Oceanside Mother’s Day Run 2024 a great success

Popular event drew approximately 400 runners on May 12

The sun and plenty of runners, walkers and rollers turned out for the 2024 Oceanside Mother’s Day 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk in Qualicum Beach on May 12.

The popular event drew in approximately 400 runners and 150 spectators to the start line near Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76, plus more than 70 volunteers who made the day possible.

Jordan Brietzke from Courtenay took first place in the 10K event with a time of 35 minutes and 29 seconds, while Devonte Scarlette from Victoria led the pack in the 5K, with a time of 16:08.

The course took runners down the popular Dollymount Trail and town streets, providing a safe journey through the urban forests, hobby farms and quiet residential areas of Qualicum Beach.
