PHOTOS: Regional District of Nanaimo announces contest winners

Inaugural competition draws more than 250 entries

The Regional District of Nanaimo’s first annual photo contest drew more than 250 submissions, featuring a wide array of shots from the surrounding islands and rural areas to cities and the mountains.

Participants were able to capture the diversity and spirit of regional region and highlight their photography skills. There were five categories.

The photo that garnered the most votes from the public and was named People’s Choice Award was the ‘Sunsets and Cloud Gazing’ shot capture by Pauline Favero.

“With such incredible submissions to choose from, selecting the top photos was difficult,” said RDN chair Tyler Brown. “It was an honour to be part of the judging panel and to see the RDN through the lenses of participants.”
