Pygmy dinosaur found

• Qualicum Beach paleontologist Graham Beard may have discovered a new species of pygmy dinosaur. 

He was excited about the find, which he believed could be a new, pygmy form of a tylosaurus, a large, slender crocodile-like marine reptile which was distantly related to modern-day monitor lizards.

• The medical staff of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital demanded the resignation of the Central Vancouver Island Health Region’s 15-member board, citing a failure to provide adequate medical care. 

The physicians passed a motion of non-confidence in the board, and followed up with a second motion demanding their wholesale resignation.

• The effort to construct a curling rink for Parksville was officially underway this week.

A committee was struck and they prepared reports on such matters as possible financing, membership and a timetable to be followed in the project.
