The Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach invites guests to tip a glass in its 15th annual Wine Fest this Saturday at Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.
The Wine Fest will open at 6 p.m. with a wine seminar, followed by a wine tasting of select B.C. and imported wines from 7-9 p.m. The samples will be accompanied by hot and cold appetizers, cheeses and fresh oysters.
To tune up for the event, Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach challenged The NEWS to a wine-tasting challenge, complete with blindfolds and samples of B.C. and California wines. When the tannens settled, the showdown between QB Rotary president Dave Bartram, who correctly picked the B.C. cabernet sauvignon, and NEWS publisher Peter McCully, who identified the B.C. pinot noir, was declared a draw by judge Peter xxx of the B.C. Liquor Store at Wembley Mall.
Tickets for Saturday’s Wine Fest are $30 per person, with proceeds going to Rotary community projects.
Tickets are available in Qualicum Beach at QB Memorial Compounding, QB Medicine Centre, Mulberry Bush Bookstore and the Chamber of Commerce office on the waterfront.
In Parksville, tickets are available at Mulberry Bush Bookstore in the Corfield Plaza and at Lady’s Mantle/Speedy Glass.
Tickets may also be ordered by phone at 250-594-2893, by emailing jim.bennett@shaw.ca or rotaryqualicumbeach@telus.net, or from any member of the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach.
