Qualicum Beach town staff act as the dog catcher service

The SPCA may not patrol for stray dogs in Qualicum Beach any more, but that hasn’t posed a problem, says bylaw enforcement officer Craig Marshall.

The SPCA may not patrol for stray dogs in Qualicum Beach any more, but that hasn’t posed a problem, says bylaw enforcement officer Craig Marshall.

“The SPCA does not do patrols for stray dogs, but we do have a contract with them where they will pick up a dog if management or myself call them and we have a dog. We had five we requested they pick up in the first four months since the change and that’s it. It’s never really been a problem.”

Marshall said residents who have a problem with a stray dog should call his office at town hall.

“The public can’t call them up any more like they used to. They would be directed to call us.”

Anyone with dog complaints should call town hall at 250-752-6921.
