Toastmasters Parksville member Hamilton advances to speech contest semifinals

A win in Nashville will give her title of ‘World Champion of Public Speaking’

Molly Hamilton is off the Nashville.

Hamilton won the recent Region 1 Toastmasters International Speech Competition to advance to the semifinals in August.

The Arubutus Toastmasters Club Parksville member is heading to Tennessee to compete against the best in the world on Aug. 17-20.

The speech contest started in 1938 and involves more than 33,000 participants in 141 countries, making it the world’s largest oratory contest. There is a six-month process of elimination to reach the semifinals. Only 28 participants make it and Hamilton is one of them.

If she wins, she will hold the ‘World Champion of Public Speaking’ title.
