Auditions for Bard To Broadway’s summer 2017 season start this weekend.

B2B is auditioning for more than 30 actors for the upcoming season.

The dates for auditions are Jan. 21 at St. Paul’s Church Hall (100 Chapel St., Nanaimo) from 1-4 p.m. and Jan. 22 and 28 at 186 Shelly Rd. in Parksville from 1-4 p.m.

Jan. 22 is the suggested date if auditioning for the musical.

Email stageguy@shaw.ca to arrange an audition time. People auditioning should prepare a short monologue or reading of your choice, but they will also be reading from the scripts.

For auditioning for the musical, prepare a short song segment and provide a backing track (karaoke available on iTunes) or CD.

Be prepared to spend at least an hour at the audition.

B2B’s 2017 season includes Moon Over Buffalo, Looking and The Drowsy Chaperone which is back by popular demand.

Moon Over Buffalo follows two fading stars of the 1950s who find themselves on the brink of disaster with their steadily diminishing theatrical troupe in Buffalo, New York. But they might have one last shot at stardom as Frank Capra, a film director from the 30s and 40s, is coming to town to see their matinee and if he likes what he sees he might cast them in his upcoming movie.

Looking tells the story of four singles living average lives and “looking” for something more — love, sex and the whole damned thing. Looking starts with a first blind date and takes the audience on a fabulously funny excursion through the highs and lows, the joys and dilemmas of middle-age dating.

The Drowsy Chaperone, a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, follows Robert and Janet on the eve of their wedding. They encounter unexpected obstacles, until it is all resolved in the best madcap, musical comedy tradition.
