Mirella Trozzo of Biscotti Di Notte is hosting the first annual Vintage-Retro Inspired Faire in French Creek April 27.

Retro and vintage items are all the rage right now and a new, local event will create a venue for that type of shopping, as well as inspiration.

It’s the inaugural Vintage-Retro Inspired Faire, created by Mirella Trozzo of Biscotti Di Notte, happening Saturday April 27 at the Church of Ascension on Wembley Road.

“Right now in the community there’s quite an appetite for vintage and retro,” said Trozzo.

Trozzo said she got the idea to put this on after attending a similar event in Victoria and wondering why our area didn’t hold anything like that.

Trozzo will be selling her biscotti and other products like pizzelle, the oldest type of cookie in the world, at the event, and there will also be 27 other vendors. Patina Home will be demonstrating how to “up-cycle” vintage furniture and Buckingham Stencils will show how to stencil furniture.

There will be up-cycled vintage clothing, vintage-style soap, vintage candy, and china and jewelry to be found, and the Vintage Fashion Lady Merlyn Patton will have her collection of clothing dating back to the 1920s.

Some KSS students will be attending the event adorned in vintage outfits and there will be a kids craft table to keep the little ones happy.

Trozzo said rather than an antique market, the Faire will be heavy on inspirational items and old items made new.

Food will be available from Twin Island Caribbean Foods.

People are encouraged to come dressed up retro-style and be ready for a good time.

“I just want people to come and have fun,” said Trozzo. “And inspiration is what its all about.”

The event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and admission is by donation. The church is located at 887 Wembley Road.
