Attend a fundraiser for the food bank and you’ll get a locally handcrafted bowl and some tasty soup.

This Saturday, May 17 is the Mayworks Festival’s 10th annual Empty Bowl Soup Kitchen event at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre.

For a $15 ticket people can select their bowl made by the Arrowsmith Potters’ Guild and have it filled with soup made by local chefs. Your empty bowl is yours to take home after the event.

All the proceeds go to the Salvation Army Food Bank. Thanks to that support of community members, local businesses and artists, the event has raised an average of $3,000 annually for the food bank.

The fundraiser will also have magician Phil Taylor on hand mesmerizing people with his up close and personal tricks, the Second Wind Jazz Band entertaining and a silent auction.

Tickets are available at the Mulberry Bush Book Stores, at the Arrowsmith Potters’ Guild, at Cranky Dog Music in Parksville and at the door.
