Samba dancers heated up the atmosphere in the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre

It was cold and blustery outside Nov. 17, but the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre was sizzling Saturday night for the 21st annual Rotary-Chamber Gala Auction and Dinner, which had a hot Brazilian theme.

Guests were greeted with an eruption of colour when they entered the uniquely decorated centre and were guaranteed a night of excitement with the Brazilian-themed party that included a carnival of authentic food, fashion and entertainment.

The night started simmering with the sultry sounds of Cold Coffee, which included students from the Kwalikum Senior Secondary School Jazz Band.

As guests mingled, many dressed in fashion fit for Carnival, Amy Louise of Magical Faces gussied up the gals by adorning them with colourful body artwork.

The night included a vibrant lineup of entertainment featuring Samba Fusion, a trio of Brazilian dancers who lit up the dance floor wearing barely their costumes and performing some lively rhythmical dance routines.

The live auction included some awesome travel packages for stay-cations as well as tropical destinations.

One bidding frenzy included a full page, full colour ad in the Parksville Qualicum Beach News which generated even more than its $1,728 value.

Master of Ceremonies, Michele Jack of the Qualicum Beach Rotary Club said the major fundraiser was a huge success.
