Jazz trio kicks of TOSH concert series in Qualicum Beach

Series starts Feb. 26 and goes until end of April

The Itamar Erez Trio will kick off the Old School House (TOSH) Arts Centre’s Music on Sundays series on Feb. 26.

The trio, devoted to playing original and improvised music, debuted at the Vancouver International Winter Jazz Festival, as part of TD Niagara Jazz Festival ‘Connected World’ program in 2020, according to a TOSH news release.

The concert series will feature a variety of musicians and goes most Sundays until April 30.

Piano and guitar player Erez will be joined by Jeff Gammon on bass and Kevin Romain on drums.

Recordings of the trio can be heard on Itamar Erez’s Mi Alegria (2019) and the upcoming May Song album.

Erez is an internationally touring musician and multi-instrumentalist based in Vancouver, where he sits on the faculty at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music. He recently had a successful showcase at “JazzAhead” in Germany.

Next up will be cellists Amy Laing and Alexandra Lee on March 5, followed by the Andrea Superstein Trio (March 12), Erica Dee Mah with Darcy McCord (March 19), Keith MacLeod, Paula Kiffner and Robert Holliston (March 26), Shruti Ramani’s Quartet (April 2), Florian Hoefner Trio (April 16), the Giving Shapes (April 23) and Samuel He and the Artemisia Duo on April 30.

Tickets, available online, are $35, plus GST and $20, plus GST for students.

Students must call TOSH at 250 752-6133 to get their tickets.

Performances are at TOSH (122 Fern Road W) and approximately. 75 minutes long with festival seating.
