The MACoustic Folk Club will feature accomplished musician and local figure Kerri Coombs this Friday, April 19.
Coombs plays in Dr. Phil Harmonic’s Jug Band Orchestra and the Celtic group Skewlines. She hosts an open Celtic session every Monday at Fibber Magee’s pub in Nanaimo and plays regularly as a solo artist or in various groups at established local venues such as the Errington War Memorial Hall.
Coombs has a diverse musical background in a number of instruments and styles.
Over the years, she has traveled the world collecting songs and tunes and become proficient at numerous stringed instruments, such as mandolin, hammered dulcimer, harp and ukulele.
Her prolific songwriting makes use of a variety of tunings and styles. With lyrics and melodies ranging from "profound and meditative" to the "humorous and danceable", she never fails to surprise an audience just when they think they know what to expect.
