Parksville Beach Festival looks to break attendance record in final week

Sculptures to be lit up Friday and Saturday evening

The Parksville Beach Festival Society has some big plans for the festival’s final week, including a light show and concerts.

Visitors can take in the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Exhibition from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. until Sunday, Aug. 21, according to a news release by the society.

Hours will extend on the weekend and the sculptures will be lit up Friday and Saturday evening with professional lighting.

“Brought to you by Coastal Community Credit Union, the light show provides a unique and wonderfully different experience that is ideal for photos,” read the release.

Entrance gates will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20, aligned with Parksville Community Park schedule.

The final Tim Hortons outdoor summer concert series in the new Parksville Outdoor Theatre is also set for this weekend:

• Friday, Aug. 19, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: ‘Big Pacific’; rock and roll;

• Saturday, Aug. 20, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: ‘Big Sky Wanderers; rock and pop, 1970s to 2000s;

The Quality Foods Festival of Lights Fireworks will begin immediately after the final concert.

Parksville Beach Festival Society’s goal is to surpass 2019’s visitor count (115,118). They have counted more than 94,000 so far.
