The thing I love most about Parksville is the peace and quiet.
Silent nights, what a blessing after decades of big city living.
On New Year’s Eve the peace was shattered by intermittent fireworks from 8 p.m. until 2 p.m. It sounds like war.
My little dog was frantic the entire time, trembling and panting, impossible to comfort. I couldn’t enjoy my quiet celebration with my dog being miserable.
Please, people who set off fireworks, think of the thousands upon thousands of seniors and pets who are suffering for your brief, selfish, incredibly intrusive entertainment.
We don’t see pretty lights and colours. We just hear chaos. Fireworks are an outdated tradition that should be banned, unless they are the new silent type. If we can’t make it illegal, we can make it socially unacceptable.
Would you find it acceptable for me to bring big speakers and blast my music into your house?
