Letter: Make sure your voice is heard

I take issue with a lot of the comments of Julian Fell’s letter to the editor on Oct. 30.

I take issue with a lot of the comments of Julian Fell’s letter to the editor on Oct. 30.

It is the same fear-mongering that was on the flyer form the Liberal party that was hand-delivered on Sunday.

He put communism and proportional representation all in the same category? PR is dictatorship? When in reality PR is the exact opposite.

FPTP has put people like Stephen Harper in a “dictatorship” position resulting in many Canadians feeling compelled to then vote strategically to make sure he was not re-elected.

Reference to “Extremist legislation that minorities demand”, and “petulant uncompromising minorities”, makes me sad that people are so threatened of losing the control over others which they have come to take for granted, that they resort to disrespectful name calling of anyone who has an opinion that differs from theirs.

The people of Parksville and Qualicum Beach would do well to ignore the fear-mongering and vote for PR to make sure their voice is counted in the future.
