Re: ‘BC Ferries serving beer and wine’ (www.pqbnews.com, April 18)
When a restaurant is licensed, we don’t assume that every patron having a drink is driving.
Most of the patrons likely arrived by car yet we don’t have our knickers in a knot about how they got there, who is a driver or a passenger and who should or shouldn’t be driving.
Many of the passengers on the ferry are also passengers in the car and/or on foot. Why do we assume that every person who might enjoy a cold one on the ferry is a driver?
We drive onto the ferry the same way we drive to eateries, lounges, baseball games, concerts, dances, pubs, galas, Chamber dinners or any event or venue that sells liquor, don’t we?
I am curious why so many feel that the restraint, discipline and good judgment we have everywhere else would fly out the window when we get on the ferry?
