Please replant trees along Corfield

An open letter to Parksville city council members and Parksville planning department:

It is disappointing to see some of the changes that are occurring in Parksville.

For example, there were trees along Corfield Street adjacent to the post office parking lot. They were recently cut down and removed. They haven’t been replaced. That’s too bad.

Apart from trees offering shade and beautification, trees help fight climate change. Is the city council ignorant of these facts, or do they just not really care?

We have all experienced the smoke from forest fires this summer.

Do we want to continue along this path or do we want to offer a brighter, cleaner, more breathable future for our children, grandchildren and future generations? Every tree matters.

I have lived here a long time and among those Parksville residents who are proud of our city and the way it looks and what it has to offer. I am also a taxpayer and concerned global citizen.

Wake up city council members before it’s too late, if it isn’t already. Please, replant some trees along Corfield.
