Relief, vindication after sewer project cancelled

Along with the vast majority of residents residing in the Area H Electoral District, I not only felt vindicated but also was very relieved to see that the ‘Bowser Sewer Project’ was finally cancelled.

Along with the vast majority of residents residing in the Area H Electoral District, I not only felt vindicated but also was very relieved to see that the ‘Bowser Sewer Project’ was finally cancelled.

Without a doubt this was the right decision. When the facts and truths relating to this project were finally revealed, there was no other choice.

It’s too bad that far to much money and time was spent on what was an unwanted and bad idea right from the start.

After all, the 99 residents of the village of Bowser, being the only eligible voters for the project were misled right from the get go.

Truly it’s hard to imagine in this day and age, that right next to the village of Bowser, an open pit sewage system, which included the building of a senior citizens residence on the same property was even been considered.

Further to this, the proposed system was designed to support many many more properties in the future than initially discussed with village voters and to top it all off, would empty into our treasured Salish Sea.

Densification of Vancouver Island seems to have been promoted at a record pace for the past few years by the RDN board. Why? For whose benefit?

I refer to and quote a paragraph from the editorial of April 9 in the PQB News, which opens with “There’s a lot of misinformation being spread these days.”

“Misinformation is almost always, at its source, some form of manipulation, whether it’s for a serious political agenda, making money, laughs, or just someone’s narcissistic desire to stroke their own ego.”

I urge our elected officials and their developer friends to pay heed to these words.
