Raise a glass with Parksville Uncorked

The annual Parksville wine and food festival event is now just a few short months away


t’s time to raise your glass once again and toast the exceptional wines, beers and cuisine of British Columbia at the fifth annual Parksville Uncorked Wine and Food Festival, slated to run from  Feb. 21-24, 2013.

Tickets go on sale Nov. 1 for Parksville Uncorked 2013, which will showcase fine wines and craft beers from around the province and at the same time pairs them with delectable cuisine from restaurants, resorts and specialty food purveyors from Parksville and the rest of the Island.

The events, sponsored in part by The NEWS, are a collaboration between local resorts and chefs with B.C. wine and beer makers.

Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort kicks off festivities by welcoming beer lovers to the highly popular Parksville Untapped beer tasting event on Feb. 21.

Craft beers and ciders from around the province will be paired with great local eats.

Guests of Untapped will receive an exclusive take-home beer glass to taste the evening’s fine brews.

Next the Swirl Gala returns to The Beach Club Resort Feb, 22 where 28 wineries will offer samples of their finest.

Chefs from local resorts and restaurants will complement the wines with a sumptuous selection of appetizers and gourmet bites.

Guests of Swirl will receive an exclusive take-home glass.

For wine lovers seeking a more intimate tasting experience, there are two exciting winemakers’ dinners.

On Feb. 23 The Beach Club’s Pacific Prime executive chef will pair a gastronomical event with the wines of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, with guidance from Burrowing Owl CEO Chris Wyse.

Tigh-Na-Mara Resort’s Cedar Room restaurant will feature the wines of Road 13 and a menu by executive chef Eric Edwards.

The festival ends with the Bubbles Brunch at Tigh-Na-Mara on Feb. 24, where B.C. sparkling wines will be paired with a decadent Sunday brunch.

There will also be local tours for guests attending events that weekend.
