Uncle Wiggly’s Hot Shoes Blues Band will play their last-ever Parksville show on Sept. 24 after 46 years together.

The band formed in Victoria in 1978 and was a mainstay on the Blues Bar A Circuit for many years around the Island, Lower Mainland and Western Canada.

They signed with RCA Records in 1981 and released an album that gained enough popularity that the band ended up sharing a stage with Muddy Waters, Joe Cocker, George Thorogood and Paul Butterfield, to name a few.

The band represented B.C. at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2015, and they were inducted into the Royal City Music Project’s Hall of Fame in the Blues Category.

A packed reunion show in January at Hermann’s Upstairs Jazz Club in Victoria encouraged the group to do a few more shows.

If you liked hearing them back in the day at the University of Victoria, then you do not want to miss this show as it will be the last performance in Knox United Church in Parksville before the band is retired.

The members will continue playing music in their various other bands and trios so you will see them around, but not all together as Uncle Wiggly’s.

The show starts at 2:30 p.m. Doors open at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and available through Eventbrite and with cash at Parksville retailers Fireside Books and Close to You Boutique.
