The City of Parksville has announced its dates for open budget deliberation meetings, to discuss the 2021 municipal budget and 2021-2025 financial plan.
The dates are set as March 8, March 29 and April 12 (if a third meeting is required).
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and until further notice, council meetings are closed to in-person attendance by the public.
In a public release from Deb Tardiff, the manager of communications for the city, the release read that “receiving public input into the budget is an important part of the financial planning process.”
Residents can engage with the budget process in multiple ways: submitting comments by email to firstname.lastname@example.org where they will be considered by council – written comments must be received by noon on the Friday prior to the scheduled meetings (March 5, March 25 and April 9); watching the council budget deliberation meetings online which can be viewed though webstreaming from the city’s website; submitting ‘real-time’ comments by email to email@example.com while meetings are underway and where the comments will be addressed by council; and by submitting comments to the city’s online engagement site at https://letstalkparksville.ca/your-budget-your-parksville.
The meeting videos are archived from the city’s website for viewing at another time. All comments received regarding budget deliberations will become public record.
