A warm, late-spring afternoon, high tea and the gentle sounds of a baby grand piano – it’s a scenario made for an English garden party … or the Gardens at Qualicum Beach.

Last week, residents at The Gardens enjoyed an afternoon filled with delicious treats, the lovely sounds of a new volunteer playing entertaining music on the baby grand piano … and tea, of course!

With the residence’s inviting main lounge transformed for the special occasion, small groupings of chairs and couches allowed for easy conversation between musical interludes.

Of course, sweet and savoury delicacies are at the heart of any high tea, and the talented chefs at The Gardens prepared a scrumptious spread of assorted finger sandwiches and dainty desserts. And beverages? Served in their finest china.

“Better than the High Tea served at the Empress!” commented one resident.

“We send a big ‘thank you’ to The Gardens team for all of the effort that went into making this such a beautiful and successful tea – the perfect salute to spring,” says Billy Jolicoeur, Community Relations Manager at the Gardens at Qualicum Beach.

The High Tea was just the most recent event in a spring filled with special activities designed just for residents.

Following March’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities, complete with music, green beer and treats, April brought the community’s first-ever wine and cheese tasting. Residents sipped and sampled their way through an international tour without ever leaving home!

While these special events are much-anticipated by staff and residents alike, they illustrate the sense of community that makes this residence truly “home.”

At the family-owned and operated Gardens at Qualicum Beach, residents choose from privately owned condominiums or Independent Living Suites ranging from studios to two-bedroom units located on a beautifully landscaped property steps from downtown Qualicum. If residents’ needs change, assisted living and long-term care are also available on-site, meaning there’s no need to leave the community you love for the care you may need.
