Councillors running for re-election in the Parksville municipal election

Parksville city council will see some changes after the Oct. 20 municipal election as one councillor is running for the open mayor spot and only one more has confirmed their bid for council re-election.

Parksville city council will see some changes after the Oct. 20 municipal election as one councillor is running for the open mayor spot and only one more has confirmed their bid for council re-election.

Coun. Kirk Oates, who was elected to Parksville council in 2014, announced in June his intentions to run for mayor. Oates received endorsement from current Parksville Mayor Marc Lefebvre who will not seek re-election.

Coun. Teresa Patterson has confirmed she will run for Parksville council again, Coun. Mary Beil told The NEWS she will disclose her intentions once she has made a decision and Coun. Kim Burden said he will announce his intentions in early September.

Coun. Sue Powell is not running again and Coun. Leanne Salter will not seek re-election in Parksville as she is running for Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area F director.

Salter has received endorsement from current RDN Electoral Area F Director Julian Fell.
