No injuries were reported after six fire departments responded to a structure fire at the Riverside Resort the evening of Dec. 4.
Dashwood Volunteer Fire Department was called to the fire at approximately 9:15 p.m. and requested mutual aid from the Bow Horn Bay, Coombs-Hilliers, Errington, Parksville and Qualicum Beach fire departments, according to Fire Chief Nick Acciavatti.
Crews arrived to find a motorhome on fire, which had spread to the motel unit next to it. Firefighters extinguished the bulk of the exterior fire and then entered the motel unit to extinguish the fire in the attic space inside, Acciavatti said.
