An air ambulance was dispatched from Parksville.

Deep Bay firefighters assisted with landing the helicopter in a field at Bowser Elementary School so the patient could be transported to Victoria for hospitalization.

Bucoviz said he is unaware of the patient’s condition at this time.

Six firefighters were first responders to the incident, then assisted two members from B.C. Emergency Health Services with caring for the patient.
