Boomer's legacy ride starts today

Ride honours Comox soldier killed by suicide bomber in Afghanistan

Ninety military and civilian cyclists will be in Bowser, Qualicum Beach and Parksville today as they begin the fourth annual Boomer’s Legacy Ride.

The ride goes from Comox to Victoria over two days, to raise funds and awareness of humanitarian projects funded by Boomer’s Legacy — named for Andrew ‘Boomer’ Eykelenboom.

He was a Canadian soldier from Comox who was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. The dollars raised allow Canadian soldiers to make a difference.

The ride gets to the Bowser Legion at around 11:30 a.m. They pull into QB at approximately 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Parksville at Thrifty Foods at around 1:50 p.m. For details, visit www.boomerslegacy.ca.             — News Staff
