Nancy Anderson, the daycare operator, was forced to find more space when provincial regulations changed in 2009.

The daycare at 205 Pym Street happened to border a 456 square metre (4,900 sq.ft.) lot wedged between two houses and the Ballenas Secondary School parking lot containing a decommissioned pump building.

The pump equipment has been removed and the building is too small to sell and is only used for storage, so leasing roughly a quarter of the lot to the daycare is ideal for both parties.

Council voted to extend the lease another three years at $1,500 a year, an option that was included in the original deal.
