For the second straight day, northbound traffic on Highway 19 in Parksville is backed up because of an incident near the Englishman River bridge.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Oct. 18, a pickup truck slammed into the concrete median divider, possibly while trying to overtake another vehicle.

The pickup came to rest against the divider, and traffic services personnel are directing motorists while awaiting a tow truck.

Northbound traffic on Highway 19 is backed up around the corner toward the Highway 19 exit near the weigh station, where a downed power line closed the highway for more than five hours Tuesday morning.

There were no apparent injuries in the collision.

The Parksville and Errington volunteer fire departments were both called out in the incident, and Oceanside RCMP attended.
