Crime report: Gargoyle statue stolen, ballpark dugouts vandalized in Parksville

Oceanside RCMP receive 248 complaints in one-week period

Oceanside RCMP received 248 complaints the week of Oct. 24-30.

Some of the incidents included:

Oct. 24

• A bird bath and sunflower light were reported stolen in the 100 block of Ponderosa Drive, Parksville.

• A Halloween Gargoyle statue was reported stolen in the 600 block of Sandalwood Drive, Parksville.

• A red Honda 2000 generator was reported stolen in the 100 block of Hamilton Avenue, Parksville.

• A large brown wicker chair, a plastic lawn chair and two pink cushions were reported stolen in the 200 block of Chestnut Street, Parksville.

• A Canada Post box was reported tagged with graffiti in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville. A subject was identified and charged.

Oct. 25

• A door to a water pump house was reported in the 900 block of Fairdowne Road, Parksville.

• A wooden desk was reported dumped in the 200 block of Chestnut Street, Parksville.

• Change was stolen and approximately $50 damage was reported to an unlocked vehicle in the 1100 block of Resort Drive, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized with paint in the 1600 block of Nahmint Road, Qualicum Beach.

• A business bathroom was reported vandalized in the 100 block of Memorial Avenue, Parksville.

• A vintage blue Apollo brand bicycle was found in the 400 block of Willow Road, Qualicum Beach. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

Oct. 26

• Multiple bags of recycled bottles were reported stolen in the 1300 block of Errington Road, Errington. Damages was also reported to a property fence.

• A door panel and rear tail lights were reported damaged on a commercial vehicle in the 1300 block of Parkhurst Place, Parksville.

• A grey leather wallet and insurance papers were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of McCarter Street, Parksville.

Oct. 27

• Ballfield dugouts were reported vandalized with graffiti in the 400 block of Despard Avenue West, Parksville.

• A five-foot by four-foot beige with black top bin used for storing recycled bottles was reported stolen in the 100 block of Second Avenue, Qualicum Beach.

• A flagpole and flag were reported stolen in the 200 block of Chestnut Street, Parksville.

• Graffiti was reported sprayed on two markers to the public beach in the area of Henry Morgan Drive and Maple Guard Drive, Bowser.

• Two trespassers on quads were reported in the 800 block of Drew Road, Parksville.

Oct. 28

• A new silver 4x3 custom aluminum utility trailer was reported stolen in the 1300 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville. A securing chain was noted cut.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized by putting silicone into the charging port in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.

Oct. 29

• A Milwaukee 18-volt battery operated chainsaw and a socket set combined valued at $500 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of Park View Avenue, Parksville.

• A silver Zektor 2 15-speed bicycle was reported stolen in the 300 block of Crescent Road East, Qualicum Beach.

Oct. 30

• A dumpster fire was reported in the area of Craig Street and Hirst Avenue, Parksville.

• Insurance papers and personal papers were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Wallis Street, Parksville.
