Crime report: Vandals go on spree, damaging mailboxes in Qualicum Beach

Oceanside RCMP also deal with burned portable outhouse

Oceanside RCMP received 274 complaints the week of June 5 to June 11.

Some of the incidents included:

June 5

• A fraudster was reported taking deposits for work then not showing up as promised in the 1200 block of Arbutus Road, Parkville.

• A bright blue Pelican Mission kayak was reported stolen in the 800 block of Cavin Road, Parksville.

• Two dumpster divers were reported on private property in the 300 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized as a catalytic converter was damaged on a vehicle in the area of Church Road and Coldwater Road, Parksville.

June 6

• A nighttime prowler was reported in the first block of Bridgewater Lane, Parksville, on June 6.

• A nighttime trespasser was reported in the 400 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. A male suspect was identified climbing a compound fence and entering a vehicle.

June 7

• A business site picnic table was reported set on fire in the 1200 block of Island Highway East, Parksville, in the early hours.

• Fuel was reported siphoned from a vehicle in the 3100 block of Alberni Highway, Qualicum Beach, on June 7.

• A nighttime trespasser was reported in the 400 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. A male suspect was identified climbing through a hole in the compound fence.

• A CCM receiver hitch 2 bike rack and a Specialized Serrius mountain bike was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Tanglewood Place, Parksville.

• Change and keys were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of Corfield Street, Parksville.

• A child’s green and blue TREK bicycle was reported stolen in the 500 block of Harlech Road, Qualicum Beach.

June 8

• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 1400 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville. A large sum of cash was stolen and damage to the front door and security gate.

• A residential break-and-enter was reported in the 2400 block of Apollo Drive, Nanoose Bay.

June 10

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized in the 1000 block of Eaglecrest Drive, Qualicum Beach.

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized in the 500 block of Chester Road, Qualicum Beach.

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized in the 600 block of Tararack Drive, Qualicum Beach.

• Canada Post mailboxes were reported vandalized in the 1000 block of Eaglecrest Drive, Qualicum Beach.

June 11

• A portable outhouse was reported lit on fire in the 100 block of Hirst Avenue East, Parksville.

• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 100 block of Alberni highway, Parksville. Damage sustained to exterior door and a red Shoprider scooter was missing.

• B.C. licence plate 293PKV was reported missing from a vehicle in the 2100 block of Errington Road, Errington.
